Hey,

My name is Amadeo Plaza. I’m a 22 year-old wayward journalist from Long Island, who stumbled into the marketing industry. I’d like to think I embody just about everything that has come to define Generation Y; the good and the bad.

I went to school at St. John’s University, initially majoring in Journalism and then switching to Advertising. It was during the summer of my sophomore year that I got my first job in advertising, as a strategy intern at POKE New York (I was their first). I was there for just under a year. Following my time there, I interned at The Wonderfactory for a couple of months during the following summer. Finally, I started my senior year at Ruskin International, which was a little different of an experience than I was used to. Smaller agency, smaller clients, but an infinitely valuable experience nonetheless. I was there until May 2009, when I graduated and got my first job as a Junior Strategist at crayon (recently acquired by Powered), which is where I am now.

To make a long story short, I’ve developed a fondness for this advertising/marketing thing, but refuse to be what an old friend calls an “ad douche.” That said, I made this blog with the intention of sharing my thoughts as raw as can be, regardless of whether or not they’re popular. There’s something I can’t stand, and that’s self-righteous marketers who think they’re infallible. I’m going to do my best to use this blog to tell it how I truly see it, and share the interesting things I find across the internet.
